Mid-term self-evaluation
Our first deadline is already done and I feel like before actually going on i need to evaluate my progress and my mistakes. I'd say - mid-term self-evaluation kind of thing.
It all stated with pitching ideas for our experimental films. I think I did okay with the actual presentation by making it structured and thought through. What I did wrong though is reading the brief. No, understanding the brief. The fact that I presented a usual mainstream idea is sad. Mainly because I realise that I am capable to do better. It's just this time for some reason I decided not to get out of my comfort zone and just stick with a classic short film. It annoys me now so much.
Then photography came. It all was quite good. I am kind of happy with the result I think that I should've thought more about technical side of the project too, because... As I have been using different settings all the time, some pictures look a bit differently and it may look like they are from different series. But the main idea, concept and even presentation them on the wall turned out to be alright.

These are main things I need to remember when I work individually next time. And of course in the group too.

Hi Mary this is a good reflection and well done for looking at some of your mistakes and challenges so objectively. This is a good habit and will help you to move forward positively. You have achieved much as well so that is what the first year is all about - making mistakes now rather than later when it will be more costly. Lessons learned in this way are well remembered so I am sure you will always read the brief carefully in future. Talk to your peers and speak with a tutor if in any doubt to make sure you are on the right path. Anyhow - all good and onwards and upwards!
