Avid Editing. One Post - all frustration and results.
So in the very beginning I will say that I am not a fan of Avid. I think there is only one great difference from Premiere pro - is the file sharing system and honestly that's it. May be it is just me being very used to Premiere and being biased because of that or may be I am too dumb to actually get used to editing in Avid.
Also, after the actual shooting in November I realized that I am more of the producer than and editor or any sort of post-production person. I tried to make the edit as good looking as possible though, but I wasn't that interested in it. Honestly.

Beginning.
I started from creating all the bins and folders with files so that I could efficiently use them any time. And straight after that I started renaming the footage so that during editing I could find what I need any second. And that's where the realization started... Our continuity was broken...
Frustration.
Yes, our mistakes in continuity gave me and all other team mates headache. And what's funny we don'r really remember how exactly that happened, as everybody were working very hard on set. And partly I do blame myself in it, as I could've looked after it. I think partly the problem was that we didn't have a big playback screen, so small details, like different hand that main actor used for listening to the tape, or the stand that got into the frame, were not really noticeable on the small screen of the camera.
But within 2 days of fighting with Avid and my own use to Premiere I managed to somehow cover all the flaws, but even after that they are still quite noticeable.
I also struggled (and honestly still do struggle, since we didn't have any help last Monday) with the sound. Our recorded clips were not adding to the timeline, so even though our blog deadline is this Sunday I hope to get it fixed on Monday and then export it.
Pros.
The other thing that I liked in Avid though is colour correction system. I really did enjoy it and tried to fix some mistakes that were made. And i think I managed to get rid of the "theatrical look" by making it more cinematic. But that can be only my perception.
Results and conclusion.
Am I happy with what I have done? No, not at all. I know for sure I would've done much better if we had longer and more detailed/guided work on Avid workshops. They were so fast paced that I barely could catch what the tutor was saying and showing. I could've done much better in Premiere pro, as I know my real editing skills. I literally feel very bad that I couldn't show them in Avid. But in all honesty, going from "I don't know how this thing functions" to "okay, I can handle it, but I still need some guidance" is a big step for me. May be I am not quite successful yet but i definitely have progressed.
