Maps & Networks: Timeline design. Pt. 1
Looking for inspirations.
After changing my idea from boxes to plinths, I figured that everything I need to do now is to design a timeline, that will show how quickly humanity will destroy itself, if it keeps killing animals.
My journey started after googling "timeline designs", where I cam across the article of 20 examples of timelines.
There were multiple different timelines on different topics and stories, but there was on particular design that caught my eyes. The history of Gramercy Park Hotel.
It was really close to what I was imagining in ,y head all this time. A horizontal bar with simple lines with dates. But the difference was in pictures. They have added pictures of the hotel, that was related to the year. So that caught me thinking that I can add pictures too.
So with that question in my head I kept looking.
First of I cam across "Graphics Exchange" - excellent place to get yourself inspired, if you need to create some sort of design.
Second of all I finally got an idea. I don't really need plinths. I can use maps on the timeline as on a screenshot above. Stick the origami to the maps of a continent/country. Before the timeline put the utopian picture of the earth and in the end - dystopian. And here we are. The brilliant aesthetic minimalist exhibition ready.
Also, after seeing a timeline from Timbaland store, I kinda thought about putting animals into the glass "cages" with a map framed close to it. At this point everything depends on the composition, which i will work on later today in the library. By the end of that time I should have the entire picture of my wall ready.
Speaking of origami... On my last tutorial, Rosie suggested thinking about materials that I am using, as people tend to decode that too and the colour of animals that I am making. have some copper spray paint left since my last model contracting. It got m thinking that I can paint all my animal in copper. Which will make them look like statues.
The main question is, why do people create statues? To remember something or someone forever. (As an example I put a statue of the famous dog Hatico). If all my animals will look like statues, that may make people think about the fact that we need to remember the destruction we create and be aware of the future things we are able to kill or destroy.
I will make a scheme of the wall today.
I will finish the animals and cover them in copper paint tonight.
I will be ready to hand in the project by next Monday.
Mary out ~
